How do you balance work and home life?
In ancient Egypt, the goddess Ma’at oversaw the balance in life, death, and everything else. It is this universal balance that we humans strive even today. With the hectic work life most of us lead, it is no importance that the balance is something to strive for.
When I was still working in a hospital as a nurse, I used to use a tunnel to enter and exit the hospital building, as this allowed me to have a transitional period between the work and off-time.
Now that I work from home, things have become more muddled. Yes, the commuting time has vanished, but also the figurative journey through the tunnel has gone. Now I walk out from my office room and voilà! I’m home. Therein lies the problem.
Now, no matter how tired I feel after my shift, I need to go out. I need to have a short walk with the dogs, to take the bin out, what ever, but to break the cycle of work related thoughts in my head. Otherwise I just keep on dwelling in stuff that doesn’t benefit my home life.
How do you do it?
