What fears have you overcome and how?
For me, one of those nagging doubts has definitely been writing and, especially, announcing publicly that I am writing. When I started this blog, Travelling Thoughts, I was certain that I would use it only as a personal space to jot down ideas, thoughts, and short stories. How would anyone be interested in what I write?
One of the most fearful moments whilst writing these texts was late last year, when I decided to publicise my book writing project. It has been my dream for such a long time. We are speaking of decades here, and because of that kind of timeline, it becomes more of a fear: what if people ridicule me? What if they think it is not good?
What helped me to go public? I decided that for once, I wanted to concentrate on a project that was important for me. If I succeed or fail, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that I showed myself that I could do it. I can only anticipate the worst and hope for the best.
In every fearful situation, it is the first step, which is the most difficult one. After that, the steps become easier, especially with the support of your family and trusted friends.
