Gazing Into the Mists of Time…

What are you most worried about for the future?

What a topic to start a week, but as it so happens, I wrote about this just a few days ago! If you open any newspaper in the world, and read about the upcoming presidential elections in the US, and the results of recent European Parliament elections, it simply makes you want to hide away in some ancient forest and pray that no one will find you.

A few days ago, I wrote about a topic that I love dearly—the history of al-Andalus and what should be learned from it— to make the modern world a better place. Now that Europe seems to be moving to (far) right politically, that worries me. We are going to face times of uncertainty, unpredictability, and – I fear – isolationism. We already see signs of that as antisemitism and islamophobia are on the rise, and the refugees are tossed back to the Mediterranean Sea by the Coast Guard of Greece.

I also fear the effects of the rampant climate crisis that no political leaders seem to give a toss about, not even when there are flooding and drought at the same time.

So these are my main concerns at the moment, on a grander scale.
